Skin: the largest organ of the body.

Good Daily Skin Care Routine Steps is a habit you will thank yourself for. Remember, it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Make a 5 minute morning and evening habit you won’t regret! When you do start to do look after their skin, you'll be so glad you did after you realize the difference it makes.

If you do still have an excuse for not looking after your skin, just ask yourself:

What can 10 minutes of Social Media do?

I'll tell you: the blue light from your screen device ages your skin.

What can 10 minutes of skincare a day do? (5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening that is)

Improve your skin's appearance, skin health and work wonders for your confidence.

Dry Body Skin Brush Benefits

Most people's skin issues, if it isn't medical, can most likely be solved by one product - the most common product I repeatedly advice to people - a Dry Body Skin Brush (AKA Detox Brush).

You might not have heard of them, or you have one but don't use it. It's that small wooden brush that looks like something you'd scrub the floor with, but it's not for that. It's there to be a part of your daily skin care routine steps.

They come in either a circle or oval shape, a few sizes, and some with a detachable handle if you struggle to reach your back.

There are plenty of brushes out there but you can get one cheaper on Amazon and does exactly the same job as the rest.

Detox Brush Benefits:

✅ Increase Circulation - Brushing towards the direction of the heart, increases the body's circulation which can be the cause of cold hands and feet

Healthier Organs - Increasing the body's circulation helps improve all your organ functions. Who doesn't want healthy organs?

Improves The Lymphatic System - A system that's part of our immune system that helps fight infection and detoxes the body.

Exfoliates The Body - Much more effective than scrubbing wet skin in the shower. Some people's skin absorb moisture super quickly meaning there's a lot of dead skin that needs exfoliating. Removing this will help you moisturize your skin better as your skin will absorb the products more effectively.

Helps Tackle Ingrown Hairs -  Body brushing helps bring the hair to the surface so it can be removed easier. (Avoid genital area when using a skin brush.)

✅ Smoother Skin - After all that hard, dry, flaky, dead skin has been removed, your skin will feel sooo much softer.

✅ Ideal For Pre-tanning - I'm sure you'd rather spend your money on tanning your smooth skin rather than flaky, dead skin that can fall off and make your tan look patchy.

✅ Reduces Cellulite - Concentrate on brushing your thighs using a skin brush to help reduce cellulite.

✅Skin Feel Ah-Mazing - Your skin will just feel like it can breathe! No dead skin blocking it from breathing really helps. Most of us scrub the skin on our face, so it only makes sense to brush the skin on our bodies too. Especially when it's thicker than the skin on the face.

Skin Care Routine Tips for Body Brushing

Use before getting into the shower so you can wash off all that dead skin you've just removed, once you're in the shower.

Pro tip: switch your shower to cold at the end for however long you can handle, to improve breakouts on your back. Many people are so conscious of congestion on their back which is so common to have, and it's simply due to letting the warm water leave the pores open. Cold water will close your pores. Doing this is great for physical and mental health.

Start by brushing from the tips of your toes and brush towards the direction of your heart to increase blood flow and make the most of your skin brush.

Brush in circles around knees and elbows, as those areas tend to build up with more dead skin.

In a nut shell:

1. Use before shower

2. Brush from toes towards the direction of the heart

Happy Body Brushing!

Morning Skin Care Routine Steps

  • CLEANSE - Massage cleanser into your skin and behind your ears. Add water and then rinse off. Pro tip: wash with warm water then splash your skin with cold water to close your pores.
  • PAT DRY - To avoid scratching our delicate facial skin, we must pat the skin dry using a clean face towel every morning to prevent acne & bacterial build up.
  • FACE SERUM - Apply on 3 middles fingers, transfer to other by pressing your fingers together and tap all over face before massaging into your skin in upwards motions to lift the skin.
  • EYE CREAM - Apply a very small pea sized amount on your finger, press on to other ring and tap around the eye area to stimulate circulation which can reduce dark circles. Then gently using your ring finger to gently rub from the inside to the outside of your eyes to drain the eyes and reduce puffiness. Many people skip this step but the skin around our eyes is thinner than the rest of the face and requires a separate cream.
  • USE SUN SCREEN WITH SPF30 MINIMUM & UVA / BROAD SPECTRUM - Up to 90% of visible skin damage is due to environmental factors Skin Cancer Foundation Charity found. This includes pollution, UV rays from the sunlight, and even the artificial, blue light you're exposing yourself to right now reading this on your digital screen's device. Protecting your skin from this is essential. Not just when it's sunny outside, but every day. UVB (B for burning to help you remember), only protects your skin from burning whereas Broadspectrum / UVA (A for ageing) protects it on a daily basis from ageing.

Once you get into the habit of it, it becomes feeling like a 2 minute ritual you have to do.

IMPROVE YOUR SKIN CARE ROUTINE STEPS

If you’re already doing all of the above steps, here are some ways to improve your skincare routine further:

      • DOUBLE CLEANSE - For a more thorough cleanse with your daily skin care routine.
      • ANTIOXIDANT - SkinCeuticals offer the best AntiOxidants. Similar to how an apple oxidizes when exposed to the oxygen in the air, the same thing happens to our skin on a daily basis. That's why we tend to have more skin conditions on our face, more than any other part of our body.
      • EYE SERUM - More potent and powerful than an eye cream as it gets into the deeper layers of the skin. Apply the same way as an eye cream.
      • UVA PROTECTOR / BROAD SPECTRUM - Use an SPF50 for even more protection and apply in upward motions to lift your skin.

Pro Tip: The general rule of thumb for the order of applying skincare products is to apply the products by starting with the thinnest to thickest.

Night Time Skin Care Routine Steps

       skin care routine steps

How many of us have gone sleep wearing our make-up?! We've all done it and all know how much grubbier our skin feels the next day. Similar to our brain recharging at night and plaque doubling on our teeth each night, our skin repairs itself too during the night time. This is why it is vital to get your evening skin care routine steps in.

First things first, AVOID MAKE UP WIPES! Wipes do as they say on the tin, they wipe any dirt & impurities around your skin. How many times have you used a make-up wipe and still noticed your skin isn't clean? Let alone has all of the make up been removed.

      • MISCELLAR WATER - Much more effective for removing make up than a make up wipe.
      • CLEANSER - An oil based cleanser is great for lifting impurities off of the skin. As our skin has it's own natural oils, the oil will attract our own skin's oil, and lift any dirt and impurities away from the skin, rather than rubbing it around your skin like a make-up wipe would do.
      • EYE CREAM - Apply same as morning regime as mentioned above.
      • MOISTURIZER - At night our skin goes through a natural process called Trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), which basically means our skin loses water before it evaporates in the air. This why a good moisturizer at night is vital.
      • LIP BALM - Keeping your lips moisturized during the night will help prevent you waking up with cracked, dry lips which can result in bleeding or cold sores if you're prone to them.

IMPROVE NIGHT SKIN CARE ROUTINE STEPS

Some products are specially formulated to use on our skin at night time.

      • DOUBLE CLEANSE - For a more thorough cleanse, double cleanse after using miscellar water if wearing make up, and remember behind those ears!
      • NIGHT SERUM - Night serums usually help your skin repair and restore itself even further during the night time.
      • EYE SERUM - To get into those deeper layers of the skin at night time, apply an eye serum the same way you would an eye cream.
      • NIGHT CREAM - especially formulated to help rejuvenate, repair and moisterise your skin even further at night. Or...
      • RETINAL - Replace night cream with with Retinol twice a week. Retinal is known as the skin care product "that turns back time" as it speeds up skin cell turnover. Increase usage to every other day gradually. Use alone, not with a serum underneath it, as it's not a product that should be layered over another skincare product.

       Skin care routine steps

      Weekly Skin Care Routine Steps

      • EXFOLIATE - The skin on our face is thinner than the skin on our body, and therefore more delicate, so it requires less exfoliation. Twice a week for extra dry flaky skin but no more than twice a week we'd recommend, as excessive exfoliation can sensitize and damage your skin's natural barrier.
      • FACE MASK - Use after exfoliating to get the most benefits from the mask. Select one that tackles your skin concern whether it's dry skin, sagging skin, oily T-zone etc. Looking after your skin is more than just a treat, but a way to keep your mind & body healthy. Masks can be used up to 3 times a week. Read instructions before using. Check Face Masks in Stock

Lastly, if a product doesn't improve your skin after a month of using it, it most likely isn't working for you, as skin cell turn over is roughly a month depending on age.

Remember other factors contribute to the condition of our skin such as lifestyle, trauma, hormones, skin type and medical conditions. No two skin types are exactly the same and there's beauty in that individuality. Keeping your habitual skin care routine steps may not solve your skin problems but it can certainly improve the condition of your skin.
